The El Dorado High School Mock Trial Team has once more been crowned as the Champion for all of Orange County. The finals were a grueling double-trial event that began March 1st at 9:30 am with the EDHS Prosecution Team and ended with the EDHS Defense Team at 4:00pm and the announcement that El Dorado was the winner.
EDHS defeated defending champ Woodbridge (a 6 time winner) to advance to the State Finals for the 5th time in the school’s history. This was only the second time that EDHS and Woodbridge, the two winningest programs in Orange County, have squared off in the OC Finals. EDHS won on both occasions winning in 1994-1995 and again this year 2007-2008. Today’s trials marked the 7th appearance by EDHS and the 8th appearance by Woodbridge in the finals. The two teams have won 11 of the 26 Orange County Mock Trial Championships.

Every Tuesday, Mark Switzer’s classroom at El Dorado High transforms into a TV studio.
Desks are rearranged, cameras positioned. Makeshift lighting rigs form a rectangular arch over a long table used as an anchorman’s desk. Students type up scripts that will be displayed on a teleprompter.
A student producer asks for quiet.
“Hawk Talk” is in production.

COSTA MESA El Dorado quarterback Kane Wilson felt he let his senior teammates down once. He wasn’t about to make it twice.
The junior quarterback scored on a 5-yard keeper with 25 seconds remaining to lift El Dorado to victory over Trabuco Hills, 13-12, in the CIF-SS Southwest Division finals Friday night at Orange Coast College.
It was the Golden Hawks’ (13-1) second consecutive CIF Southwest Division championship as they again ended the season on a 13-game winning streak.
