The last full week before finals! There is a lot going on this week: 1. Quiz Wednesday (open book) 2. AP one sheet due Friday  3. Annotations due Friday   4. In-class essay is on Friday! Stay focused--you're almost there!

We are discussing chapters 16-23 of Huck this week. Chapters 24-32 quiz is on Friday. Have you started your AP One sheet yet? It's due June 7th!

We will finish discussing chapters 8-15, and will begin analyzing 16-23 of Huck Finn. We will also look more closely at satire in the novel. Quiz on Wednesday over 16-23.

The Malcolm X essay is Monday and Tuesday in class! After that, we will focus on Huck Finn for the rest of the year. Keep reading chapters 8-15; the quiz is on Friday.

We start Huckleberry Finn (our last unit!) this week, and will read and discuss chapters 1-7 together in class. The Malcolm X essay and AP one sheet start next Monday 5/13 (delayed due to AP Euro test).

We finish Malcolm X this week! The test (passage analysis) is on Friday. Due to AP Euro testing, the AP one sheet and essay will be May 13th-14th. We start The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn next week, focusing on chapters 1-7.

We are discussing 11-13 of Malcolm X, having a quiz on 14-16 of Malcolm X on Wednesday, and reading and analyzing Zora Neale Hurston's "How It Feels to Be Colored Me." Reading guide questions for 14-16 are due on Friday.

Keep up with Malcolm! Chapters 11-13 reading guide due on Wednesday. There is also a quiz on Wednesday over chapters 7-13. Finally, in class, we are working on a mini-research paper about Malcolm X. This is due Friday night on Google Classroom.

We are discussing chapters 4-6 of Malcolm, and reading and analyzing an essay by Langston Hughes. Chapters 7-10 reading guide questions due on Wednesday.

We are finishing our discussion of chapters 1-3, and will begin a discussion of 4-6 on Thursday. There is also a quiz on Thursday over chapters 1-6. Finally, we will read and discuss the poem "I Wear the Mask" in relation to chapter 2 of MX.

We are finishing up the speech analysis, and discussing chapters 1-3 of Malcolm X this week. We will also read the poem "The Mask I Live In" to compare to chapter 2 of Malcolm X. Chapters 4-6 with reading guide questions should be read by 3/27.

We are beginning The Autobiography of Malcolm X this week, starting with chapters 1-3, which should be read by Monday, 3/18. Also, please complete the assigned critical reading guide questions, available on Classroom. We are focusing on rhetorical terminology this week.

We are wrapping up poetry this week--final on Thursday and essay on Friday! The Autobiography of Malcolm X begins next week.

We have poetry presentations this week! Also, in between presentations, we will analyze poems to prepare for the poetry essay, which will be next week. Finally, we will start Malcolm X in 2 weeks, so if you want your own copy for annotating, please purchase soon.
