Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to El Dorado’s 2009-10 school year. Our enrollment has settled in at about 2440 and we had a very smooth opening thanks to our remarkable, students, teachers, counselors and office staff. This summer, for the first time, we offered a Freshman orientation so that our incoming students could meet their teachers and get familiar with our campus. Also, approximately 1100 parents attended Back to School Night in order to become familiar with our programs and meet their students’ teachers.
Over the summer, some of our 800 and 900 building classrooms were remodeled and the District began the process of installing Smart Boards in all permanent classrooms. The renovation of our football field is about to begin and we hope to break ground for our new practice gym by the end of the school year.
I am very proud of our school’s accomplishments. We have been named a California Distinguished School as well as a National Blue Ribbon School. Our Academic Performance Index went up again by 6 points to a score of 817. We have added new Honors and Advanced Placement courses to our curriculum and our award-winning Entertainment Unit is the only Orange County band to be invited to march in the 2010 Rose Parade.
I am looking forward to an exceptional school year and I thank you all for your continued support of El Dorado High School.
Sincerely,
Karen Wilkins
Principal
