Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! The coming year is filled with exciting new additions to El Dorado High.
We have hired several new staff members:
Roxanne Mouw -- Spanish
David Block -- Animation and Digital Media Arts
Ryan Hilts -- Math
Candace Tingley -- English/Language Arts
Taylore Nguyen -- Math
Desiree Monte -- Special Education
Cathleen Lopez -- School Psychologist
Jordan Searby -- Social Science/Guidance
We also welcome back Ms. Mykaela Clemmer and Mrs. Christine Williams-Perea who will be taking a larger role on campus in the English/Language Arts Department.
The campus has undergone a few renovations that are mostly decorative. The mural over the pool was updated this summer thanks to the aquatics boosters. A large mural on the north side of the practice gym as well as some parking light banners were also installed. This is all in preparation for our 50th anniversary celebration to take place October 14-15. October 14th is the annual homecoming game at Bradford Stadium and the 15th we have an Open House planned. EDHS groups will be performing as well as campus tours. Continue to check the EDHS web site for more details, but we hope you will join us.
We saw impressive gains in our new state testing results. For the first year we have data that we can compare. The average student score went up by 8 points in ELA and 12 points in math. Another way to compare is the percentage of students who met the state goals.
82% met the goal in ELA, an increase of 5 % and 54% in math, and increase of 9%. Obviously EDHS teachers are making some positive improvements.
I look forward to meeting with you at our Back to School Night on September 14th. Please check the edhs.org web site frequently for updates. You can also follow us on social media:
