To graduate from high school, students must earn 230 credits, pass the
Exit Exam in both English and Math and complete 40 hours of community
service. The credit requirements are listed below:
4 Years – Language Arts = 40 credits
3 Years – Social Science (World History, U.S. History, Govt./Econ.) = 30 credits
2 Years – Math (Must complete Algebra 1) = 20 credits
2 Years – Science (1 yr. of Life or Bio and 1 yr. of Physical or Chemistry) = 20 credits
2 Years – Physical Education = 20 credits
1 Year – Foreign Language or Fine Art = 10 credits
1 Semester – Academic Career Planning = 5 credits
1 Semester – Health = 5 credits

credits of electives. Elective credits are given to a class once it is
above the minimum requirements that are listed above. For example, if
a student takes a third year of math, those credits would be considered
elective credits.

The minimum requirements to be admitted to the California State
Universities and for the University of California school systems are

4 Years – Language Arts
3 Years – Math – Algebra 1, Geometry & Algebra 2
2 Years – Social Science – World History & U.S. History
2 Years – Lab Science – Biology & Chemistry
2 Years – Same Foreign Language
1 Year – Visual or Performing Art
1 Year – Academic Elective (this is an extra class of any of the above categories)
“C” or higher in ALL classes
CSU = Must take the SAT Reasoning or ACT
UC = Must take the SAT Reasoning or ACT + TWO SAT Subject Tests of your choice
