Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL)

Dear EDHS Families,
As high school athletics continue to evolve, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities are becoming an increasingly important topic for student-athletes and their families.
EDHS Athletics is excited to introduce NIL 101: Name, Image & Likeness, an educational presentation designed to help our student-athletes and families better understand NIL opportunities, the responsibilities that come with them, and the rules that govern participation at the high school level.
During this presentation, we will discuss: |
- Understanding NIL: What Name, Image & Likeness means and how it applies to high school athletes.
- CIF Southern Section Bylaws: Understanding what is permitted, what is prohibited, and how NIL activities may impact athletic eligibility.
- Sponsorships & Endorsements: Examples of potential NIL opportunities and what student-athletes should know before accepting an offer.
- Social Media & Personal Branding: How athletes can build and represent their personal brands responsibly.
- Contracts & Agreements: Important considerations before signing any agreement or accepting compensation.
- Protecting Your Eligibility: Recognizing potential red flags and knowing when to ask questions before moving forward.

Our goal is to provide student-athletes and families with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions as they navigate this evolving landscape of high school sports.
We strongly encourage parents and guardians to be involved in these conversations. NIL opportunities can involve financial agreements, contractual obligations, and eligibility considerations. Having a parent or trusted adult involved before accepting an opportunity or signing an agreement is essential.
Whether your student-athlete is actively exploring NIL opportunities or simply wants to understand what the future may hold, this presentation will provide valuable information.
We look forward to helping our Golden Hawks better understand the opportunities, responsibilities, and expectations that come with NIL.
