Experiment 10: COOLING BEHAVIOR OF A PURE SUBSTANCE in Google Classroom

Experiment 10: COOLING BEHAVIOR OF A PURE SUBSTANCE

Please upload your partial lab report to this assignment. If you (for some reason) did it on paper, you may turn it in tomorrow.

Due:

Introduction to Gas Properties Reading Assignment in Google Classroom

Introduction to Gas Properties Reading Assignment

In Unit 4, we will do a “deep dive” into understand the way particles of matter behave; specifically, we will
focus on the behavior of particles in the gaseous state under various conditions. To begin this unit, you will
read four short text excerpts that will introduce you to important properties of gas behavior; you will
answer questions as you read to anchor your focus on important details of the information presented in the
text. Answer the following question on a separate piece of paper.

UPLOAD SCANS OF YOUR ANSWERS TO GOOGLE CLASSROOM FOR GRADING.

Due:

Exp 6 Gravimetric Analysis of a Metal Carbonate Formal Lab Report in Google Classroom

Exp 6 Gravimetric Analysis of a Metal Carbonate Formal Lab Report

Complete a Formal Lab Report for Exp. 6 and upload here for grading.

Due:

Experiment 4 Formal Report in Google Classroom

Experiment 4 Formal Report

Complete a Formal Lab Report for Exp. 4 and upload here for grading.

Due:

Lesson on Naming Compounds in Google Classroom

Lesson on Naming Compounds

Please watch the video lesson on rules for naming compounds.  You will need the Common Ion Charges chart to refer to as you watch.  You need to complete the notes sheet as you watch.  To receive credit for the assignment, you need to upload a scan of your completed note sheet after you watch the video.
NOTE:  This video was recorded a few years ago and gave them the option of breaking the lesson into two parts.  This year, I'd like you to watch the entire lesson this weekend; next class meeting you will do a worksheet to practice what you have learned.

Due:

Into to Atomic Theory Reading Assignment in Google Classroom

Into to Atomic Theory Reading Assignment

Make a copy the questions and use the reading material to answer them.

Due:

Typed Report for Experiment 2 in Google Classroom

Typed Report for Experiment 2

Open a blank document in Google Docs and head the page with your name, your lab partner(s) name, period, and date in the top right corner
Give your report a title
Make a section for the following parts: PURPOSE, OBSERVATIONS/DATA, and RESULTS & QUESTIONS (follow directions on page 4 of the lab and be sure to include pictures!). In the Observations/Data Section, create a table for qualitative and a table for the quantitative data you collected.
Type your lab report.  This includes typing all your data into the tables you created, including clear pictures, and answering all of the follow-up questions in complete sentences.
Submit your complete typed document into this assignment for grading.

Due:

Lesson: Intro to Metric System & Converting Between Metric Prefixes (Review) in Google Classroom

Lesson: Intro to Metric System & Converting Between Metric Prefixes (Review)

In preparation for next week, we are asking you to watch a lesson which reviews the basics of the metric system, and reviews the metric prefixes, and the basics of converting between metric prefixes.  We know you have used the metric system in previous classes - after this review lesson, we will jump into advanced metric conversions in class on Tuesday (including utilizing powers of 10 and scientific notation).

Required Task:
Watch the entire review lesson - which is broken into TWO videos -  and complete the portion of your note packet that corresponds with the video.  This includes watching BOTH PART I and PART II VIDEOS of the lesson.
Scan ALL notes that you took and upload to Google Classroom for credit; this will include the portion of your note packet that was filled in, the completed "metric number line", and the example problems that we started in class are to were placed on the back of a page of the note packet.

Due:

Honors Chemistry Safety Quiz in Google Classroom

Honors Chemistry Safety Quiz

After you have read the Safety Rules, please complete this quiz (including watching the video that is linked at the beginning of the quiz).

****If you miss any questions, you need to revise your answers until you get 100% correct!*****

Due:

Review of Scientific Notation in Google Classroom

Review of Scientific Notation

In chemistry, we will work with numbers that are VERY LARGE (like number of atoms in a sample) or VERY SMALL (like the size of the an atom).  Therefore we need to review scientific notation, which we will utilize very often in Honors Chemistry.

REQUIRED:
Read the Review of Scientific Notation Notes & watch the lesson that accompanies the notes (which walks you through the examples).
Complete the note sheet as you watch the video (blank note sheet provided in class).
Submit a scan of your completed note sheet for grading to Google Classroom.
OPTIONAL:
Watch the two videos by Tyler DeWitt (teacher who has a You Tube channel).  I included these below in case you feel that you need more instruction on the basics of scientific notation.
