FRQ Prompt:

Analyze the ways in which the events of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic period challenge the Enlightenment views on society, politics, and human nature.

Nice: you have your POA set up-you should have a paragraph on society, politics, and human nature

Naughty: you have to approach this question as to how did the French Revolution AND Napoleon CHALLENGE Enlightenment, meaning, the Declaration of Rights and Man and Citizen SUPPORTS Enlightenment ideals of John Locke. Whereas, the Women's March on Versailles CHALLENGES Jean-Jaques Rousseau's ideas of women's place is in the home.

Make sure to work on a thesis and POA prior to the FRQ in-class write on Wednesday!

Hi Everybody!
Here are the answers to the end of the chapter questions if you are doing them for extra practice~

**to clarify assignats: when we described them as paper money, it is also ok to call them government bonds, so, they WERE not given to the church but backed BY THE Money that was supposedly going to be generated by the selling of church lands. SO, when someone referred to them as IOU, actually, they were, BUT, they became so accepted by the public that they began to be accepted as payment at times.

Assignment

Hi Everybody!
I hope you are all enjoying some much deserved time off. For those that have some down time, I thought I would provide the FRQ topic ahead of time for those looking to alleviate anxiety when we return.

The question for the inclass FRQ that will be given after the MC on Chapters 14 and 17 on the Wednesday, November 28 (we will need an extra day to review) when we come back:
Compare and contrast the ideas of Locke, Hobbes and Rousseau.

I am currently grading the take home FRQs you completed and turned into me. I will have those ready to return on Monday for you to review.

For those struggling with a thesis, since this is a compare/contrast, consider using the following templates (remember the blanks are for words not just a one word fill-in):
Although Locke and Rousseau agreed on _______________, Hobbes differed on _________ because of _____________. (you can switch people and words around...your POA then needs to support the argument that Locke and Rousseau were more alike than Hobbes--OR create a statement that you can support)
* Of course, you can create a brilliant argument of your own too! Just remember you DO NOT need to list three areas (that is your POA), rather, you need to create an argumentative answer that will be supported by your POA.

Your POA would be your three groupings which would represent areas they agreed or disagreed on (ie nature of man, society, government) NOT their three names!

*You still have Monday and Tuesday night too, just thought some of you, if you have the time, would appreciate working on this over time rather than when we return!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Mrs. Smith
