Today we spent the entire class period reviewing for next week's midterm. The primary topics were review of vocabulary from the "Para Empezar" chapter of the text, as well as "infinitive" verbs with "gustar" and definite articles (el, la, los, las). Absent students: I've attached the review materials for you to complete at home. 

This week will be dedicated as a "review week" to prepare for the Spanish 1 midterm. Today students practiced expressing their opinions in the target language. We used Chapter 3B grammar and vocabulary concepts to write descriptive sentences about celebrities and classmates. Absent students: Please complete the activities in the attached power point presentation and submit your work when you return to school. Today we learned 3 irregular present tense verbs and incorporated their use with Chapter 3B vocabulary terms. Absent students: Please copy the verb charts included in the attached presentation. Then, complete the dialogue by filling in the blanks with the missing conjugations. 

Today we started Chapter 3B and translated the new vocabulary words. Today we reviewed some food vocabulary from Chapter 3A, and also expressed whether we "like" or "love" certain foods. Absent students: Please take notes from the attached power point and write sentences using "gustar" and "encantar" about the foods on the last slide.

Today students began a comprehensive review of Chapter 2 in order to prepare for the upcoming chapter quiz on Tuesday December 13th. Absent students: Please complete the review activities in the attached power point presentation, and email me if you have any questions. 

Today all classes will be participating in an "hour of code". Students will be using the website www.code.org to practice basic java script. Absent students: You don't need to make up this assignment. 

Today students read in Spanish about the UNICEF organization and what it does to help children in need. We also wrote 11 sentences using the verb "estar" and Chapter 2B vocabulary in order to describe the locations of different objects in the classroom. Absent students: Please write at least 7 complete sentences (using all of the "direction" terms) with the verb "estar" to describe the locations of 7 different classroom objects. 

Today we learned an expression to help us make comparisons in Spanish. Then, students wrote about and discussed their preferences regarding a variety of topics. Absent students: Please print or take notes from the attached presentation, and complete the practice activities. 

Today we learned about the different uses of the verbs "ser" and "estar". Students completed a practice worksheet to demonstrate their knowledge. Absent students: Please see me to pick up the worksheet when you return to school. 

Today we practiced using the verb "estar" in the present tense to describe the locations of people and things, while incorporating Chapter 2B vocabulary. Absent students: Please complete the activites on slides 7 and 8  (slide 9 will help you respond to the questions on slide 8) of the attached power point.
