Today students discussed the most well know Mexican actress in Hollywood. They read about her life and listened to an interview. Then they responded to follow up questions. Today was the Chapter 6A quiz for all Spanish 2 classes. Although the honors quiz differs from the non-honors class, all levels had their quizzes scheduled today. Students also completed the new vocabulary list for Chapter 6B. Absent students: Please schedule a day and time to make up the quiz that you missed. I've attached the Chapter 6B vocabulary list for you. Today was the last day of the Chapter 6A review for tomorrow's quiz. Students completed a grammar and vocabulary review in class. Today students began reading a new book called "Los Baker van a Perú". Today we learned some additional vocabulary pertaining to different types of TV shows. Students added the new vocabulary to their 6A lists. Today students had discussions in Spanish with their classmates about sports injuries, and also reviewed irregular "preterite" conjugations. Today students learned about Lionel Messi, a famous Argentine soccer player who overcame much adversity. They watched a short video clip and read an article about his health issues. Then, students reviewed the "preterite" tense by writing descriptions of a series of accidents. Absent students: Please read the article on page 280 of the Realidades 2 textbook and answer the 4 questions in Actividad 23. 

Today's focus was irregular "preterite" verbs and Chapter 5B vocabulary. Students took notes pertaining to the "preterite" tense and completed follow up practice activities as well as a worksheet. Absent students: Please copy the notes from the attached power point presentation and complete the practice activities. Please pick up the worksheet when you return to class. 

Students worked in groups of 3 or 4 to collaboratively translate a story with Chapter 5B grammar and vocabulary. They also used the "preterite" tense to write sentences about visits to the emergency room. Absent students: Please translate the dialogue on pages 266-267 from Spanish to English.

Today we completed a comprehensive review of the "preterite" and "imperfect" tenses while incorporating Chapter 4B vocabulary. This was in preparation for the Chapter 4B quiz schedule for this Wednesday. Absent students: Please complete the activities in the attached power point presentation.

Today students completed an activity from the textbook to talk about their favorite family member from their childhood. Then, they read a story about "Superhombre en Chile" to practice differentiating the uses of the "preterite" and "imperfect" tenses. Absent students: Please complete "Actividad 11" from page 220 of the Realidades 2 textbook. Today students primarily focused on conjugating the "preterite" and "imperfect" tenses. The main learning activity was a practice worksheet and students also viewed a short supplementary video. Absent students: Please complete the attached worksheet by either printing it or writing the conjugations on a separate piece of paper. Also, here's the link to the grammar video that we watched in class (it's less than 2 min. long). 

Students wrote paragraphs in Spanish expressing whether or not they had "good" or "bad" manners as children. They also used the "imperfect" tense to write descriptions of what some celebrities used to do as children. Absent students: Please use the attached prompt (and incorporate the verbs in the word bank) to write a paragraph about your manners as a child. Your paragraph should include 6 complete sentences. Also, view the attached power point, read  the sample descriptions of what the "famosos" used to do and used to be like as children. Then, write your own descriptions of the remaining celebrities. 

Today students completed several practice activities while using the "imperfect" and "preterite" verb tenses. They primarily conjugated verbs as part of a "story" while deciding which tense to use based on contextual clues. Absent students: Please view the attached power point presentation. Use the attached handout (or your own paper), and write down the corresponding conjugated forms of the verbs that represent each picture. Please use your notes to decide if you should conjugated using the preterite or imperfect tense. 

Today students practiced using both the "imperfect" and "preterite" tenses. They completed a fill in the blank power point presentation and also practiced writing by completing a worksheet. Absent students: Please complete the activities in the attached power point presentation, and then download or write out the verb conjugations and sentences from the attached worksheet. 

Today we learned a few more uses of the "imperfect" tense, and also completed a few activities using the "imperfect" and "preterite" tenses together. Absent students: Please complete "Actividad 17" on page 197 of the Realidades 2 textbook using the "imperfect" tense. Then, print or take notes from the attached handout and fill in the blanks with the conjugated forms of the "preterite" and "imperfect" tenses. 

Today students officially learned about the "imperfect" tense in Spanish. A handout was provided with notes explaining the uses of the tense and the conjugations. Students then completed a fill in the blank practice activity. Absent students: I've attached the handout with the "imperfect" notes. Then, view the attached power point and just write down the 3 irregular verbs (ir, ver, and ser) from the corresponding slides. 

Today we finished writing about our classmates' childhood personalities and shared in small groups. Students then read an info-graphic from the Realidades 2 textbook and responded to follow up questions. Absent students: Please finish the writing assignment from Tuesday (you already have the worksheet) and also read "Actividad 12" from page 193 of the textbook. Answer the corresponding questions (#1-4) in complete sentences. I've attached a power point to help you respond to the questions.
