Final project: Students are working with partners to create movie critiques. They will be presenting their critiques verbally to an audience of their classmates. Please see the attached power point for some general guidance if needed.

Today students used verbs like "gustar" (fascinar, importar, aburrir) to discuss and express their opinions about different movie genres. They also completed a creative writing activity about a robbery scene. Finally, students reviewed the "present perfect" tense by completing a writing and listening comprehension activity. Absent students: I've attached the last activity we completed. Please write 2 true statements about yourself using the "present perfect" tense and 1 untrue statement or lie.

Today students expanded their vocabulary knowledge by incorporating words to describe different types of movies and TV programs. They also learned about and discussed Mexican-American Hollywood stars. Lastly, students engaged in interactive practice with the "present perfect" tense. Absent students: Please add the vocabulary in the attached power point to your current list. I've also attached the present perfect practice activity. Please write four original questions in the empty boxes using the present perfect tense.

Today students practiced conjugating stem-changing "ir" preterite verbs and also completed a fill-in-the-blank conversation about a waiter providing horrible service to his clients. Today students completed a listening comprehension activity and reviewed "verbs like gustar/ encantar" that require the use of indirect object pronouns. They wrote an "advertisement" using that grammar concept for either a class or career. Absent students: Please view the attached presentation to review the uses of "verbs like gustar". Then, write your own mock advertisement. This should be similar to the examples in the power point (approximately 3-4 questions).

Today we officially began Chapter 4B. Students translated the new vocabulary list to English and took notes on a new grammatical concept known as "reciprocal actions". Then, students completed a practice activity in the textbook to practice the new concept (page 224 "Actividad 17").

Today students continued to work on the "cápsula de tiempo" in-class project. The primary focus was writing about each "artifact" using the "imperfect" tense and formatting the "rough draft" of the presentation or letter. All groups will present their projects on Friday February 17th. Absent students: If you were unable to attend class today or yesterday, you will be working on this assignment independently. Please refer to the attached rubric and rough draft format.

Today students continued to practice conjugation in the "preterite" and "imperfect" tenses using contextual clues. Students listened to a story and translated it verbally with their partners, and also viewed a power point and conjugated the verbs that represented each image. Absent students: Please write the numbers 1-13 on a piece of notebook paper. Use your notes and view the attached power point presentation. Each verb in the expressions provided needs to be conjugated either in the "imperfect" tense or the "preterite" tense.

First, they wrote descriptions about what the "famosos" used to be like as children; then they conducted interviews of their classmates and recorded results. Absent students: Use the examples in the attached power point presentation and write your own descriptions of the "celebrities" you see.
