Final project: Students are working with partners to create movie critiques. They will be presenting their critiques verbally to an audience of their classmates. Please see the attached power point for some general guidance if needed. 

Today students used verbs like "gustar" (fascinar, importar, aburrir) to discuss and express their opinions about different movie genres. They also completed a creative writing activity about a robbery scene. Finally, students reviewed the "present perfect" tense by completing a writing and listening comprehension activity. Absent students: I've attached the last activity we completed. Please write 2 true statements about yourself using the "present perfect" tense and 1 untrue statement or lie. 

Today students expanded their vocabulary knowledge by incorporating words to describe different types of movies and TV programs. They also learned about and discussed Mexican-American Hollywood stars. Lastly, students engaged in interactive practice with the "present perfect" tense. Absent students: Please add the vocabulary in the attached power point to your current list. I've also attached the present perfect practice activity. Please write four original questions in the empty boxes using the present perfect tense. 

Today we finished taking notes pertaining to the "present perfect" tense. The remaining notes begin on "slide 16" of the attached power point (it's also attached to Friday's lesson). Students completed 2 follow up activities; one practice worksheet and a true/false interview with partners. Absent students: Please take notes from slide 16 to the end of the power point; then complete the attached worksheet. Today was the Chapter 6A quiz for all Spanish 2 classes. Although the honors quiz differs from the non-honors class, all levels had their quizzes scheduled today. Today was a comprehensive review of Chapter 6A. No new material was introduced this week. We prepared for tomorrow's Chapter 6A quiz by completing a worksheet and Quizlet "study set". Absent students: The worksheet is attached and here is the link  to the Quizlet practice. 

Today we finished responding to the reading comprehension questions pertaining to the article we read yesterday about Kathy Switzer. Students also completed a verbal activity from the textbook to practice speaking. Absent students: Please refer to yesterday's materials and respond in complete sentences to the reading comprehension questions. 

Today students read an article from Spanish newspaper "El Pais" about Kathy Switzer, the first woman to run in the Boston Marathon. Students read with their partners and completed reading comprehension questions. Absent students: Please use this link to read and access the article. Today students practiced their writing. Students were presented with two prompts to choose from, and wrote structured paragraphs in Spanish. Absent students: I've attached a power point that explains the writing strategy and there's a separate document with the prompts. 

Today students practiced writing sentences incorporating Chapter 6A vocabulary and "ir" irregular "preterite" verbs. Then, they played the "jeopardia" game show in Spanish as a comprehensive Chapter 6A grammar review. Absent students: You can use this link to access the practice sentences. Today students practiced conjugating stem-changing "ir" preterite verbs and also completed a fill-in-the-blank conversation about a waiter providing horrible service to his clients. Today students learned about other types of reflexive verbs. Today students completed a listening comprehension activity and reviewed "verbs like gustar/ encantar" that require the use of indirect object pronouns. They wrote an "advertisement" using that grammar concept for either a class or career. Absent students: Please view the attached presentation to review the uses of "verbs like gustar". Then, write your own mock advertisement. This should be similar to the examples in the power point (approximately 3-4 questions). 

Today we covered the preterite conjugations of  stem changing "ir" preterite verbs. Then students completed a follow up practice worksheet. Absent students: Please view the attached power point with the grammar notes. Then, complete the attached practice worksheet. 

Today we reviewed "indirect object pronouns" and verbs like "gustar". Students took notes and completed a follow up interview to practice the grammar concepts. Absent students: I've attached the notes and the follow up worksheet. Please write 5 interview questions with the verbs interesar, fascinar, aburrir, molestar, and gustar or encantar. 

Today all Spanish 2 classes completed the Chapter 5B quiz. Students also translated the new vocabulary from Chapter 6A. Absent students: Please schedule a time this week to make up the quiz. I've attached the 6A vocabulary list.

Today was an introduction to Chapter 5A vocabulary. Students completed an activity in the textbook and also discussed whether Chilean firefighters should receive a salary or not for they services they provide. Today was a general review of the "preterite" and "imperfect" tenses in preparation for the Chapter 4B Quiz this Thursday (March 2nd). Students used Quizlet to review Chapter 4B vocabulary, completed a fill in the blank power point to practice using both tenses contextually, and also reviewed conjugating through a worksheet. Absent students: I've attached all components of the lesson. Today we used Quizlet to practice switching between the "preterite" and "imperfect" tenses. Click here to access the study set. Today students read a story about "Superhombre en Chile" and chose the correct "preterite" and "imperfect" verb conjugation based on contextual clues. Absent students: Please read the attached story and circle your verb choice. 

Today we officially began Chapter 4B. Students translated the new vocabulary list to English and took notes on a new grammatical concept known as "reciprocal actions". Then, students completed a practice activity in the textbook to practice the new concept (page 224 "Actividad 17"). 
 Absent students: Please print out the new vocabulary list and use Quizlet or the textbook to translate the words (or pick it up when you return to school). Also, please take notes from the attached power point pertaining to "reciprocal actions".

Today students continued to work on the "cápsula de tiempo" in-class project. The primary focus was writing about each "artifact" using the "imperfect" tense and formatting the "rough draft" of the presentation or letter. All groups will present their projects on Friday February 17th. Absent students: If you were unable to attend class today or yesterday, you will be working on this assignment independently. Please refer to the attached rubric and rough draft format. 

Today students began working on an in-class, group project as a culminating activity for Chapter 4A. Students will be required to work collaboratively and write using the "imperfect" tense to describe items they choose to include in a "time capsule". Absent students: I've attached the rubric and requirements for you to review. Please think of some students who you would like to work with for the project when you return. 

Today students continued to practice conjugation in the "preterite" and "imperfect" tenses using contextual clues. Students listened to a story and translated it verbally with their partners, and also viewed a power point and conjugated the verbs that represented each image. Absent students: Please write the numbers 1-13 on a piece of notebook paper. Use your notes and view the attached power point presentation. Each verb in the expressions provided needs to be conjugated either in the "imperfect" tense or the "preterite" tense. 

Today's primary focus was differentiating between the uses of the "imperfect" and "preterite" tenses. Students read a story in Spanish (Ricitos de oro y los tres osos) and had to select the correct verb tense as they progressed. Absent students: Please read the attached story, and either print it out and circle the correct tense, or write down the conjugated verb on your own paper. Thanks! 

Today students focused on using the "imperfect" tense. First, they wrote descriptions about what the "famosos" used to be like as children; then they conducted interviews of their classmates and recorded results. Absent students: Use the examples in the attached power point presentation and write your own descriptions of the "celebrities" you see. Then, use the handout to write 5 "yes" or "no" questions to determine if your classmates were "well behaved" or "poorly behaved" as children. 

Today students reviewed "indirect object pronouns" while incorporating the "imperfect" tense. They also completed a worksheet to practice "imperfect" and "preterite" conjugations. Absent students: Please complete "Actividad 22" on page 199 of the the Realidades 2 textbook. Review the "gramatica" box with the "indirect object pronoun" chart. Then, write 6 complete sentences. Also please complete the conjugation practice using the attached worksheet. Thanks!
