Today was an introduction to Chapter 6B and students focused on understanding the contextual uses of the vocabulary. Activities included a reading comprehension activity and describing who completes the chores at home. Absent students: Please use the attached power point to review the lesson and earn your participation points. Respond to the questions on slide 8 for your make up work. DO NOT work on slides 9 or 10 (ignore the last 2 slides). 

Today was the last review day for Chapter 6A grammar and vocabulary concepts. All students will complete the Chapter 6A quiz tomorrow. Students completed a review worksheet and also began reading Chapter 2 of the class book "Piratas del caribe". Absent students: No new material was introduced. You're still required to take the quiz tomorrow. 

Today students practiced reading comprehension and making comparisons in Spanish. They read an article from the textbook and responded to follow up questions. Students also completed a worksheet to practice making comparisons. Absent students: Please read the letters on pages 288-89 of the Realidades 1 textbook and respond to the questions on page 289. Pick up the comparisons worksheet when you return to class. 

Today students compared topics from 5 different categories: extracurricular activities, sports, food, academic classes, and celebrities. They worked in pairs to write comparative sentences. Students also completed a practice worksheet. Absent students: Please pick up the worksheet when you return to class. Thanks. 

Today students practiced making comparisons in Spanish. They wrote complete sentences and had a discussion in the target language. Absent students: Please complete the activities on slides 2 & 3 of the attached power point. 

Today students created sketches of their bedrooms and labeled at least 10 vocabulary words in Spanish.  Then, they wrote a paragraph in Spanish using the verb "estar" with directional terms to describe the location of the items in their room. Absent students: Please sketch your bedroom on a piece of paper (notebook or printer paper is fine). Then write a paragraph describing the locations of the different pieces of furniture and other items. 

Today we reviewed the colors in Spanish. Students practiced describing the colors of different nouns and completed a scavenger hunt. Absent students: Please view the attached presentation to review colors and pick up the practice worksheet when you return to class. 

Today all Spanish 1 classes completed the Chapter 5B quiz. Students also translated the new terms from the Chapter 6A vocabulary list. Absent students: Please schedule a date and time this week to make up the quiz. Also, please pick up a copy of the Chapter 6A vocabulary list when you return to class. 

Today was the last day of review for Chapter 5B. Tomorrow is the Chapter 5B quiz. Absent students: No new material was introduced today. You are still required to take the quiz tomorrow if you attend class. Thanks. 

The main component of today's lesson was a Chapter 5B review worksheet. Students wrote sentences with "ser", "estar", and "tener" and also conjugated irregular verbs. Absent students: The Chapter 5B quiz is Tuesday. Please pick up the worksheet when you return to school. 

Today student's reviewed several irregular verbs and used them contextually in the present tense. They also received a handout with a variety of irregular verb charts for future reference. Absent students: Please take notes from the attached power point and complete the practice activities. 

Today students practiced incorporating 2 new irregular verbs :venir and pedir. They took notes and completed practice activities. Students also completed a practice worksheet to review the uses of "ser, estar" and "tener". Absent students: I've attached the notes with the practice activities for today's lesson. Today was a review of the uses of "ser, tener, and estar". Students completed a practice worksheet and read a letter that was missing the verbs. They used "ser, estar" and "tener" in the present tense to complete the missing components of the letter. Absent students: Please pick up your make up work when you return to class. 

Today was a review of Chapter 5 grammar and vocabulary concepts. Students practiced writing sentences about likes and dislikes, reviewed the verb "tener", and also conducted an "interview" with another classmate. Absent students: I've attached the lesson. Please complete the gustar/encantar sentences using your notes, and then fill in the blanks of the following slide with the verb "tener" to solve the riddle/answer the question (look at the end of the paragraph). You are excused from completing the "entrevista" (interview). 

Today students practiced the uses of the verbs "ser", "estar", and "tener" while incorporating Chapter 5B vocabulary. The completed a CLOZE activity and a practice worksheet. Absent students: Please pick up the worksheet when you return to class. Thank you. 

Today students wrote simple sentences to describe physical appearance and hair color in Spanish. Two new verbs were also introduced and students practiced conjugation. Absent students: I've attached today's lesson. Please complete the sentences with appropriate 5B vocabulary and copy down the verb charts "traer" and 
"servir". 

Today students completed a writing assignment about the members of their family. In Spanish, students described personality types, hobbies, age, and identified each family member's name. After completing the writing assignment, students began Chapter 5B by translating the new vocabulary terms. Absent students: Please pick up the writing assignment and Chapter 5B vocabulary list when you return to class. 

Today students learned about the use and significance of the "personal a". We took notes on the grammar concept and wrote sentences with "gustar" and "encantar" to practice applying it. Absent students: Please take notes from the attached presentation. Today students practiced using 3 different verbs to extend, accept, and decline invitations in Spanish. They then completed a practice worksheet as part of the Chapter 4 review. Today students used the verb "estar" in the present tense to write sentences describing a variety of emotional states. Today students worked on finishing the "rough draft" of a writing assignment about the future. They will complete their "final draft" in class on Tuesday, and share the projects on Wednesday. Absent students: Please see me for the materials that you need when you return to school. You will have 24 hours for each day of school that you missed to work on the project ( 1 absence = 1 full day to make up work; 2 absences = 2 full days, etc. ) 

Today students took notes regarding using the verb "ir" to express future actions.
