Today students began working on their "country reports". All students received the list of requirements, as well as the rubric. The country report is the midterm for the class. Yesterday and today's lessons are culturally relevant and interactive. Students have been learning about how families in Mexico celebrate the holidays, and comparing these customs with their own. We have engaged in small group and class discussions, and have also completed listening comprehension activities. Absent students: If you have been unable to attend class, you will be excused from classwork for Wednesday through Friday of this week. Today students reviewed how to form unequal comparisons in Spanish. Write comparisons using the images and adjectives/ nouns on each slide. Each comparison should be a complete sentence written in Spanish. 

Today students used the verb "ir" to form the "near future tense". They wrote sentences about their after school and weekend plans, and then shared the information with their partners. Absent students: Please review the information on slide 2 of the attached power point. Use that grammatical structure to complete the activity in Spanish on slide 3. Please show me your work when your return to class, and pick up the handout on the "near future tense". 

Today was a review of the verb "ir" (to go) and telling time in Spanish. Students took brief notes and practiced communicating regarding the places they go in their free time. Absent students: Please view the attached power point (take notes as needed) and complete the practice activities on a piece of notebook paper. Today all students played a verb conjugation game called "La Batalla Naval" (Battleship). Students conjugate verbs to create a grid and place their "ships" strategically. They then play the game with a partner. Absent students: Please see me for the handout when you return to school.
