Today students will finish presenting their movie critiques and then they will begin Chapter 7A. Students will describe their favorite food in Spanish and write a simple recipe with the ingredients necessary to prepare the dish. Absent students: If you haven't presented your critique yet, you must present it immediately upon returning to school. This week students will be writing and presenting critiques about their favorite movie or TV show. This is an in-class project and a summative assessment for Chapter 6B. Today students learned some supplementary vocabulary related to talking about TV and movie genre preferences. They also reviewed how to use indirect object pronouns with verbs like "gustar" and "encantar". Today students translated the Chapter 5B vocabulary list from Spanish to English and practiced using the imperfect progressive tense with the preterite. Absent students: Please use the attached power point to take notes (as needed) pertaining to the imperfect progressive tense. Then, please complete the attached creative writing activity (you can write the sentences below your notes). Use the imperfect progressive tense to describe what was happening, and "interrupt" with the preterite. 

Today students will be presenting their diálogos (skits) to the class as the culminating activity of Chapter 5A. Absent students: Please communicate appropriately with your group members to arrange an alternative day to present in class. 

Today students will be working on the final draft of their dialogues and all students will present their skits in class tomorrow. Absent students: It is your responsibility to communicate with your group members and teacher in order to schedule an alternative day to present. 

Today students will have the entire class period to create their Chapter 5A dialogues/ skits with their partners. All groups are required to submit a rough draft and obtain teacher approval. Absent students: It's your responsibility to contact your group members to arrange a way to work on the script remotely. If you fail to do so, you will be required to write your own dialogue independently and submit it directly to the instructor. 

Today students were introduced to the different prompt options for their Chapter 5A dialogues. Students will be forming groups and working collaboratively to create "dialogues" or "skits" about a disaster or other event related to the Chapter 5 curriculum. Each student will receive a handout with the list of prompts and the rubric that will be used for grading. Absent students: I announced this project last week and advised you to plan accordingly. You will be required to write your own dialogue and submit it directly to me for grading on the assigned due date.

Today students watched a news clip in Spanish about a hotel fire in Mexico and responded to follow up questions in the target language. Today students wrote "diálogos" using both past tenses and Chapter 5A vocabulary. The prompt was a "disaster" with a "victim" and "hero". They also read the last story in the mini-series of the adventures of Juan. Absent students: Using the attached power point as a guide, please write a conversation between a "victim" and a "hero" using the "pretérito" y "imperfecto" and words from the Chapter 5A vocabulary list. Today students read an article about an earthquake in southern México that occurred in February and responded to 3 follow up questions. They also completed a verb conjugation activity, focusing on the contextual uses of the "pretérito" y el "imperfecto". Absent students: Please finish the activity we started on Wednesday, the story about "Un terremoto y un héroe". Then, read the attached newspaper article and respond to these questions in Spanish on a piece of paper with your name and today's date. Gracias.

Today students read an article about a day care center in a Spanish speaking country and completed a compare and contrast activity to discuss similarities and differences pertaining to their community.
