To the families of the Class of 2020,
We want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for our families and the seniors of the class of 2020. You have been a wonderful class and we have enjoyed spending time with you at school, activities, and events.
In coordination with the PYLUSD all the high schools have decided that a large scale graduation, even in August is unlikely. To that end we will have two separate events for the graduates of 2020. First, El Dorado will host an on campus Graduation on Wednesday June 10. I believe these will be the first EDHS grads to graduate on campus in school history. Seniors and their family will be assigned a time to drive to the campus. We will have a stage set up in front of campus. The graduate will exit the car while the rest of the family stays in the car and follows along. The family can take pictures and video from the car while the student receives their diploma in their cap and gown. Photographers will also be there and these will be provided to students at no charge. Students will be provided a mask as they exit the car and we will maintain social distancing throughout. Once students receive their diploma, they will return to the car.
Drive Through Graduation Times
9-10:30 -- Alcazar through Evans
10:30 - 12pm -- Fan through Kwok
1-2:30 pm -- Laboissonniere through Quint
2:30 to 4pm -- Ramirez through Zietlow
Secondly will be a virtual graduation. This will be published on the school website and social media at our originally planned graduation on June 10th at 6pm. It will include some speeches and recognition for each senior.
Senior Check Out
We are planning to distribute caps and gowns on Monday June 8. On that day all seniors will need to report to campus at an assigned time described below. Seniors will go through some stations to turn in materials. If anything is missing or damaged seniors will have to pay to replace it, as well as paying any debts in the finance office.
- Return all school owned textbooks, chromebooks, uniforms, etc.
- Pick up their cap and gown
- Pick up any projects from classes or clothes and equipment from the locker room
- Get their yearbook if they purchased one
All students must wear a face covering throughout all of these activities on campus and observe social distancing. It is also important that seniors continue doing their school work to ensure they meet graduation requirements.
For Senior check out, please come to campus on June 8th. Your assigned time is based on your counselor. Please follow this schedule:
9-10 -- Armstrong
10-11 -- Campuzano
11-12 -- Davidson
1-2 -- Makeups
I hope that this clarifies our plans for seniors. This is new to all of us, so we appreciate your patience and flexibility. If you have questions, please let me know. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
