Medical Innovation, Research & Entrepreneurship (MIRE)

The Spring 2024 Medical Innovation, Research & Entrepreneurship (MIRE) Program is an exceptional after-school program that brings together students from our five partner districts. Although MIRE emphasizes the Medical strand, it incorporates entrepreneurship and innovation. For example, students who participate in MIRE think outside the box, fostering creativity and innovative thinking. In addition to the innovation and entrepreneurial learning outcome experiences, communication skills, time management, adaptability, leadership skills development, networking, and collaboration are benefits of the MIRE program.

Classes for the MIRE Spring 2024 program start on January 9, 2024, and end on March 21, 2024.

As it has been presented during the last two cohorts, MIRE will remain in hybrid mode, i.e., Zoom classes on Tuesdays and in-person on Thursdays. In addition, students who complete the MIRE program earn 2.5 UC-transferable units for this work-based learning experience. Their partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Orange (CHOC) and University Lab Partners (ULP) aligns pediatric medical professionals with high school students across NOC ROP’s five school districts.

Please note that student registration for MIRE Spring 2024 is ongoing, and the last registration date is December 15, 2023.
