Use this writing prompt to write a:
 5 paragraph argumentative essay 
with 6 direction quotations 
cited from The Great Gatsby and "What is the American Dream?"  
Starting Tuesday: You will complete all work after you have found your quotes, by hand on lined paper.

In your group talk about who will find quotes for which colors. Divide this work up evenly.
Once your group has found two quotes each for their color(s), start a discussion where you share your findings with one another. 
Then add analysis details into the significance portion from your collaboration discussion. 

Step 1: Choose 10 words from the list. 
Step 2: Create a Study Set in our Quizlet Class
Step 3: Fill out the Vocab Chart with your 10 words
Step 4: Study and take the Test for the vocab set before end of Friday

*use pdf to look up words as they are used in the sentence in the book.

Use the pdf of the novel, to find the words used in the sentences from the story.
This is due Thursday, and you will have a Vocab Quiz based on the words on Friday.

As you read Chapter 1, fill out notes, details, quotations for each of the categories. You can google ideas to help you connect themes, symbols, etc...
We will review Chapter 1 together before beginning Chapter 2 next week.

Follow the instructions on Slide 2. Use the video to fill out the color chart. 
Begin reading Chapter 1 of The Great Gatsby when you are done- add quotes connected to colors to the chart as you read. Include page numbers for quotations.

We will work through this worksheet together over the course of the week. 
Tuesday, you will need to do some light research on all topics and then highlight the topic you wish to write your paper on. 
Wednesday, you will conduct your research, complete a slide show with your information. 
Thursday, you will begin or continue to write your research paper at the bottom of this doc where is says Research Paper.

*** All work must be completed on this doc. in order to be graded for credit. Any work that is copied and pasted outside of class time, will not be accepted.

Follow the instructions on the worksheet carefully. 
Pre-reading the analysis questions at the end of the article. 
Make sure to highlight, and make a comment after each paragraph summarizing main ideas. 
Answer the follow up questions in full, grammatically accurate sentences. 

After we review the syllabus in class together, print and give to, OR, have your parent/guardian read and sign the syllabus. You can turn this in on Google Classroom, with your guardian's signature or you can turn it in as a paper version. 

Fill out the worksheet here and then use paper and art supplies in class to illustrate/create your mandala based on the worksheet instructions.

You will have today to complete this. Tomorrow, when I return, we will move on. and you will have a new classwork assigned tomorrow so make sure to keep on track! :)
