Courses

We offer a range of college preparatory classes (Law Careers, Law Capstone, Multicultural Studies, World History, U.S. History, Government and Economics), an array of Advanced Placement courses (A.P. European History, A.P. United States History, A.P. United States Government and Politics, A.P. Macroeconomics and A.P. Psychology), and a variety of engaging semester-length and year-long social science electives (Intro to American Studies, Comparative World Religions, Contemporary World Affairs, Multicultural Studies, Intro to Psychology, and Intro to Sociology). 

 

Academies
El Dorado Social Science is home to ED LAW, our law and justice academy, which features unique opportunities to experience legal careers and an academic pathway to law school. The department also offers classes which support El Dorado's award-winning Digital Media Arts Academy. 

 

Faculty
Members of EDHS Social Science faculty serve as coaches for the seven-time Orange County Champion Mock Trial team (most recently in 2019), the World Affairs Competition team, the Orange County Academic Decathlon team, and for such campus sports as baseball, men's basketball, and men's golf. Four members of our department are also EDHS alumni, four are current or former EDHS parents, and two...Sunshine Cavalluzzi and Jennie Bremer, are former Orange County Teachers of the Year (there are four total OC Teachers of the Year winners who serve students on campus).
