The GEAR UP Program is formerly known as S.E.R.V.E., which utilizes the same concept and beliefs of the program started over 25 years ago by Mr. Rick Lopez, Sr. The program is dedicated to supporting and encouraging the students within the program to meet their graduation requirements, encourage additional educational endeavors and assist in providing a direction towards future vocational goals. The primary goal of the GEAR UP Program is to reach out to our at-risk students in our school that struggle within the educational model. The concept is simple in regards to the philosophy of the GEAR UP Program, two simple words, “Accountability” and “Responsibility.” The students in the GEAR UP Program learn fast they are responsible for their own actions and are held accountable to meet the consequences for each action, which supports the phrase, “every action has a reaction.”
