Principal's Message

August 2020

Golden Hawks!

We want to welcome you all to the 20-21 school year. While we are excited to have you back virtually, I hope you know how much we all miss being here in person. To begin the year, we will all be holding classes virtually, sports and most other extracurricular activities have been suspended or severely curtailed. Who knew that on March 13 we would be taking such a long hiatus from the campus itself.

Learning goes on though. It must! We have compiled some resources to help you prepare for Virtual EDHS. We hope you will take advantage of them. Classes will run via Zoom and materials will be shared through Google Classroom. Our teachers have been training hard to make this transition.

If you are a prospective student, please know that we have had to eliminate campus tours for the time being. Instead we have created a virtual tour that you can do from the comfort of your own home. No extra software is required.

I want to take a moment and welcome some new staff members:

  • Ani Baker, Counseling Office Clerk
  • Kim Montoya, Speech and Language Specialist
  • Imelda Giatan, Spanish Teacher

El Dorado is a special place with great traditions and tremendous teachers and academics. I am fortunate to work with such outstanding staff and students. Coming into a new year filled with new challenges and new opportunities, we are taking a “Whatever it Takes!” attitude. El Dorado pledges to do whatever it takes to see students and staff succeed! We'll do whatever it takes to take care of ourselves and one another! The Nest is looking at obstacles as opportunities and is excited for our positive school culture to grow, even from a distance! Click "Whatever it Takes!" above to find out more.

Here are some calendar reminders:

  • Tuesday, September 1 -- First Day of School
  • Friday and Monday, September 4 and September 7 -- No School
  • Wednesday September 16, Back to School Night (via Zoom)
