Principal's Message

August 2022

Golden Hawks!

Welcome to the 22-23 school year. We are All In on the new school year and we hope your family is as well. As always happens, we have a number of changes as we get ready to start the new academic year.

New Assistant Principal, Mrs. Jinasha Udeshi was introduced last spring in our weekly newsletter, but she began over the summer and we cannot wait for you all to meet her. She will be working closely with the counselors and the rest of Student Services to support our students.

A new counselor, Mrs. Sarah Miller will begin with us this fall. Mrs. Miller is not new to the district. She has worked at Parkview and Buena Vista the past few years. You may be wondering who left, and the answer is no one! We are so excited to have a fourth counselor to better serve our 2000 students. Mrs. Miller will handle the last names that begin with En - Le. All of the counselor’s had their alpha adjusted slightly, but we are so happy for the extra support and expertise she can provide.

Here is the new breakdown for counselors:

Ms. Armstrong -- A-Em

Mrs. Miller -- En-Le

Mrs. Davidson -- Li-Roc

Mrs. Campuzano -- Rod-Z

Seniors, if you need help from your previous counselor that Mrs. Miller cannot provide, for example a letter of recommendation, don’t hesitate to reach out.

We have some new teachers as well:

Sadaf Esteaneh -- Long Term Sub in Science

Ramon Gonzalez -- Special Education Teacher

Kevin Robertson -- Game Art

Maybe the biggest news for this year is that we are starting school at 8:30! Late starts will continue to be on Wednesdays, so first period will start at 9:10 on Wednesdays (except for 8/31, 11/9 and finals weeks). Here is the complete schedule.

Another change you might notice is that we have finally made the leap to the Next Generation Science Standards classes and textbooks. Our Science teachers have spent time learning about these new standards, developing lessons and reviewing textbooks over the past few years. Last year we had the textbook pilot and now we have new textbooks and new courses. Biology is gone and now our class is called “Living Earth”. Chemistry and Physics are new as well, but the name changes aren’t as obvious.

We have updated the student handbook and we will update it on the edhs.org website, but here is a direct link, so you do not have to search for it. We hope you will use this website as a resource any time you are looking for anything related to El Dorado High.

We encourage you to follow EDHS on social media:

We hope you have a great year and we are All In on the success of your student!
