Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. We are looking forward to a great year. We have some new staff members on campus:
Michelle Erickson -- Visual Art Teacher
Christina Nolasco -- Teacher Librarian
Natasha Ulibarri -- French Teacher
LeiLani Green -- Chemistry Teacher
Terry Hindman -- ELA Teacher
Amanda Gulack -- ELA Teacher
Richard Schmieg -- Spanish Teacher
Gil Marquez -- ROP Video Game Design Teacher
Patricia Cardenas -- Receptionist
Paul Infante -- Custodian
We were also sad to learn that Assistant Principal Dan Dupont has taken a position in another district. We are in the process of selecting a new assistant principal, but for now we have shifted around responsibilities to cover everything we can from within.
We had a great week of Back to School Days. Over 400 students came through the process each day. The lines were long in the morning, but we got through the process smoothly each day. Thanks to Mr. Campuzano and his ASB students for their organization and support through the process. Thanks to all the parents who did the data confirmation before coming to register.
Our state test results came back and our outlook is very positive. Students at El Dorado are continuing to perform well above the state and county average and are competitive with the other schools within PYLUSD. Our Advanced Placement results continue to trend in a positive direction. We set another record for exams taken and our pass rate increased slightly.
As always, an important focus for El Dorado is student safety. A year ago we welcomed a new position and person to the campus, our Wellness Specialist, Cesar Valdez. Cesar saw almost 150 students this year who were struggling with issues like the loss of a loved one, depression, anxiety, and many more. We are happy to have his services to support our students and this year we expect some evening presentations for parents. We appreciate the district’s support and vision to create this position to support our students.
On the same theme, we will be taking some class time this year to focus on lock down drills. With the increasing regularity of gun violence, we feel the need to review procedures and have a drill early in the year.
Here are some calendar reminders:
